Overview & Introduction

Skyweb Communication Services Pvt Ltd ("Skyweb", "we", "our", or "us"), a company based in Eldoret, Kenya, is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of all users of our applications, platforms, and digital services.

This Privacy Policy applies to all software products developed and distributed by Skyweb, including mobile applications available on the Google Play Store, progressive web applications (PWAs), cloud-based SaaS platforms, lesson and devotional materials accessed digitally, and our corporate website.

By downloading, installing, or using any Skyweb application or service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our services.

Applications & Services Covered

This policy applies to all current and future Skyweb products. New applications will be added to this section as they are launched.

Data We Collect

We only collect data necessary to provide and improve our services.

How We Use Your Data

• Create and manage your user account and authenticate your identity securely
• Save and restore your lesson or devotional progress across devices
• Store and display your family tree data securely within SFT
• Send push notifications for daily devotional reminders (TOD App) — you may disable these at any time
• Personalise your app experience including unlocking completed lesson content
• Display celebration milestones upon lesson or devotional completion
• Respond to enquiries submitted via our website contact form
• Diagnose and fix technical issues within our applications
• Improve app features and content based on anonymous usage patterns

Third-Party Services

Firebase & Google Services

Our applications use Google Firebase as the primary backend. Firebase Authentication stores your email and a secure hash of your password — we never see your raw password. Cloud Firestore stores your lesson progress and family tree data linked to your Firebase UID on Google-managed servers.

Firebase services may transfer data internationally including to servers in the United States. By using our apps you consent to this transfer to the extent permitted by applicable law.

You may request deletion of all Firebase account data by emailing info@skywebcom.co.ke. We will process requests within 30 days.

YouTube Video Integration

The TOD App embeds YouTube videos for devotional content. When you play an embedded video, YouTube (Google LLC) may collect your IP address, device info, and viewing behaviour per Google's Privacy Policy. Skyweb does not control or receive this data.

Users who prefer not to share data with YouTube may skip video playback. All text-based lesson content remains fully accessible without watching videos.

Push Notifications

• Push notifications are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
• The app stores a device push token in Firestore linked to your account
• Opt out at any time via: Android Settings → Apps → TOD App → Notifications
• Disabling notifications does not affect access to any app content or features
• We do not send unsolicited commercial messages via push notifications

Children's Privacy

TOD App, FMS & SFT: These apps are designed for adults and young adults aged 13 and above. They are not directed at children under 13. If we discover a child under 13 has registered without parental consent, we will promptly delete their account.

ICT Learners Platform (Ages 6–14):

• Personal data of minors is processed only under supervision of the school or institution
• Children do not provide personal data directly to Skyweb
• School administrators manage access and parental consent is obtained institutionally
• No behavioural profiling or advertising within children's platforms
• All content is age-appropriate, safe, and curriculum-aligned

Data Storage & Security

• Encryption in Transit: All data is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS
• Encryption at Rest: Firestore data is encrypted at rest by Google's infrastructure
• Access Control: Firestore security rules restrict users to their own data only
• Password Security: Passwords are never stored in plain text — Firebase uses secure hashing
• Family Data: SFT family tree data is private to each account and tree owner
• No Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, or broker user data under any circumstances

Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data in these limited cases:

• Service Providers: Firebase/Google for backend infrastructure only
• Legal Requirements: If required by Kenyan law or a court order
• Protection of Rights: To protect the safety of Skyweb, users, or the public
• Business Transfers: In a merger/acquisition, users will be notified in advance
• With Your Consent: Any other purpose only with your explicit prior consent

Your Rights

Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the following rights:

• Right of Access: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you
• Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
• Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. push notifications)
• Right to Object: Object to processing of your personal data in certain circumstances
• Right to Data Portability: Request your data in machine-readable format where feasible
• Right to Lodge a Complaint: Contact the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Mobile Apps (TOD, FMS): Our mobile apps do not use browser cookies. App state is managed via Firebase Firestore and local device storage.

SFT Web Application: SFT uses browser localStorage and session cookies for authentication state management. This data is required for the platform to function correctly and is not used for advertising.

Progressive Web App (FMS): The FMS PWA may use browser localStorage and service worker caching for offline functionality and progress tracking. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to Skyweb servers unless you are signed in.

Website (skywebcom.co.ke): Our website may use essential session cookies for form submissions only. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics services that profile individual users.

Changes to This Policy

When we make significant changes to this Privacy Policy we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Notify TOD App users via an in-app or push notification
• Notify FMS and SFT users via an in-app notice upon next login
• Post the updated policy to skywebcom.co.ke/privacy.html

Your continued use of any Skyweb application after an updated policy is effective constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Prior versions are available on request by emailing info@skywebcom.co.ke.
